Terms & Definitions


Breeding Genetics: Genetics used to improve the index values of livestock used for breeding.
Auctions Plus:   A web based livestock marketing system.
Cattle Futures Contract:   A contract enabling clients to lock into a price based on a published market index.
Forward Contract:    The forward contract matches a seller to a buyer while also allowing producers to minimise the risk of price volatility.
EYCI  (Eastern Young Cattle Indicator):   The Eastern Young Cattle Indicator - or EYCI - is an indicator of general cattle markets in Australia. It is also used as the base for the MLA/SFE Cattle Futures contract.
BAM (Best available contract):    The BAM contract is a combination of locking in an EYCI price whilst using the spot selling system to ensure the final price reflects true market value
MLA:  Meat and Livestock Australia 
Feedlot Systems:   A service to assist clients with custom feeding cattle and lambs.
Project Management:      A service that provides genetics to marketing of products.
Slaughter Cattle:   Cattle primarily sold to the processing industry.
Feeder Cattle:  Cattle primarily sold for the purpose of feedlotting.
