1. Bovine Respiratory Disease (BRD) - vaccinate with Bovilis MH to help prevent BRD.
- BRD is recognised as the most costly disease affecting feedlot cattle.
- BRD can cause rapid death or become chronic, leading to widespread, permanent lung damage and poor performance.
- The major bacteria involved in BRD is Mannheimia haemolytica (MH) - Bovilis MH is a vaccine against this bacteria and helps to reduce the incidence of BRD.
2. Bovine Viral Diarrhoea Virus (BVDV) or Pestivirus - prevented with Pestigard vaccination.
- BVDV infection suppresses the immune system and can cause reproductive and productivity losses in cattle.
- Close contact of infected animals in the feedlot environment, mixed in with animals that have not previously been exposed to the virus, can result in rapid spread of the virus and increased susceptibility to other diseases (such as BRD).
3. Clostridial diseases - prevented with '5 in 1' or '7 in 1' vaccination.
- Clostridial diseases such as pulpy kidney, blackleg, tetanus, black disease and malignant oedema can cause sudden death on farm or at the feedlot.
